Bengaluru: A 28-year-old employee of an airline was arrested by Kempegowda International Airport police recently on charges of stealing Rs 1,500 from a passenger heading to Dubai.
The arrested was identified as Venugopal KV, a resident of Kuppalli village, Chikkaballapur district. His act was recorded on a CCTV camera at Terminal-1.
Venugopal, working as a wheelchair assistant with the airline, was helping a Dubai-bound passenger identified as Soli KP on Thursday, 1.20pm. According to a complaint filed by CISF inspector Ashish Kumar, Venugopal helped Soli sit in the wheelchair and took his baggage. He then stole Rs 1,500 from Soli’s purse which was kept in the bag. This was noticed by CISF staff monitoring CCTV cameras, who detained Venugopal.
A senior police officer said Venugopal has been arrested on charges of theft.
