Qatar Airlines yet to express interest in commercial flights operation from Gautam Buddha Int’l Airport and Pokhara Int’l Airport: CAAN

KATHMANDU, July 8: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has clarified that Qatar Airlines has not expressed any interest in operating commercial flights from Pokhara Regional International Airport (PRIA).

According to Gyanendra Bhul, the information officer of CAAN, the civil aviation authority has not received any formal or informal proposal from Qatar Airlines regarding the operation of commercial flights from both Gautam Buddha International Airport and PRIA.

Bhul stated, “CAAN has been actively reaching out to all airlines, including Qatar Airlines, urging them to consider operating commercial flights from Pokhara and Bhairahawa. However, we have not yet received any proposal from Qatar Airlines in this regard.”

Bhul added that CAAN is prepared to welcome any airlines that express interest in operating flights to the region.

However, the Qatari ambassador to Nepal, Yusuf bin Mohammad Al Hail, revealed that six correspondences had been sent to the Nepali authorities, emphasizing the desire for a flight from PRIA to Doha, the capital of Qatar. He said that the Nepali authorities have not shown any interest in the matter.

During a farewell meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ganesh Timilsina, Qatari Ambassador had reiterated Qatar’s readiness to facilitate flights from PRIA.
