Ethiopian Airlines Group, a rapidly expanding global airline brand and the largest airline brand in Africa, is commemorating the 25th anniversary of its flights from Ethiopia to the United States (US). Ethiopian Airlines began its flights from Addis Ababa to US in June 1998., Ethiopian Airlines flights established air connections between Africa and the US with trans-Atlantic flights to Washington D.C., the capital city and federal district of the United States. Ethiopian Airlines flight status is remarkably reliable and is also known for providing cheap flight tickets from Africa to US.
Sending his congratulatory message on the Anniversary, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO said, “We are pleased to mark this milestone and celebrate the 25th Anniversary of our successful services to the US. Ethiopian has become a pioneer African flag carrier by starting services to Washington D.C., in June 1998. Our flights have been instrumental in facilitating trade and businesses, promoting tourism, and strengthening socio-economic ties between Africa and the US. Ethiopian now is connecting the US with Africa direct from Addis Ababa, Lomé, and Abidjan cities. We are indebted to the US Government and our aviation partners for the mutually beneficial cooperation that lasts over the past 75 years of our journey. As the US will always remain a significant part of our strategic expansion plan, we will continue connecting the US with the African market to enhance cooperation between the two regions.”
As one of the top African airline, Ethiopian Airlines has been successfully facilitating travel between the US and over 60 destinations in Africa for the past 25 years. During the period from June 2022 to May 2023, the airline transported more than 500,000 passengers to and from the US alone. With a commitment to uniting Africa and fostering closer ties with the world, Ethiopian will continue to enhance connectivity between the US and Africa.
Currently, Ethiopian Airlines operates flights to over 150 international and domestic passenger and cargo destinations, including six destinations in the US: Washington D.C., New York, Newark, Chicago, Atlanta, and Miami (for cargo services). The airline operates 30 weekly flights to the US, providing convenient travel options for passengers and facilitating trade and commerce between the two regions.
