ALSIM wins deal with Turkish Airlines Flight Academy - Asian Aviation

Aviation Festival AFA 728 x 90Turkish Airlines Flight Academy, a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, has chosen ALSIM as its training partner by purchasing two AL172 simulators. The ALSIM AL172, already certified as a FNPT II (EASA), is a replica of a brand-new Cessna 172SP Skyhawk with a real Garmin G1000 NXI and GFC700 autopilot.

The TAFA CEO, Assoc. Prof. İbrahim Zeki AKYURT, explains: “Turkish Airlines Flight Academy (TAFA) accelerated its quality and superior training with the aircraft, simulators and other requirements it acquired, aiming to train professional pilots in order to meet Turkish Airlines’ increasing need for qualified pilots. As a result of the research, we decided to supply two ALSIM AL172 simulators suitable for the desired flight training requirements and conditions. The reason we chose the AL172 simulator is that its cockpit is an exact replica of the Cessna 172SP Skyhawk NAV III aircraft and ALSIM offers proven and reliable FSTD models. We consider that it will make a high and valuable contribution to TAFA in training professional and well-trained pilots. On the other hand, it is pleasing that the ALSIM team quickly intervened in the solution of maintenance, technical support and malfunction issues.”

Leonardo Rodrigues, ALSIM Sales Manager, adds: “Instructors sit on simulators for thousands of hours, so we know that providing them comfort and ease-of-use is key. That’s why we spent so many hours perfecting our Instructor Station. We’re honored that Turkish Airlines Flight Academy recognized this effort by purchasing their two latest single-engine (SEP) simulators from ALSIM.”

Turkish Airlines Flight Academy (TAFA) is a shareholder company of Turkish Airlines. Its main areas of operation are flight training and airport management. As a sub-brand of Turkish Airlines, it was founded to provide training for cadet pilots to meet Turkish Airlines pilot requirements, as well as offering Airline Transport Pilot Training (ATP (A) Airline Transport Pilot Training) since June 21, 2012.

TAFA’s mission is to train cadets and flight instructors (FI) who are equipped with competencies in line with the culture and values of Turkish Airlines, utilising international standards and scientific methods. TAFA has set goals for itself to expand its training capacity professional pilots to meet the increasing need for qualified pilots of Turkish Airlines. Since 2013, TAFA has performed its training at Aydın Çıldır Airport academy facilities, with 40 Training Aircraft, 4 FNPT II Flight Simulators, 50 Flight Instructors, and 3 Flight Operation Bases, (Aydın Çıldır LTBD, Selçuk Efes Airport LTFB, Uşak Airport LTBO).

To date, TAFA has produced amount 1,500 graduates, with an annual graduate capacity of 300.There are currently 150 students in the theoretical training phase and 250 cadets in the flight training phase. The average graduation time is less than 15 months.
